Hello people, today I bring you a basic guide of what to do after installing Deepin 20. To be honest, the final version of Deepin 20, the 1002, it comes with some flaws inherited from previous versions that I was hoping were already fixed. But despite some disappointment, balancing the good and the bad, still the good is much more.

Many details remain to be improved, but here we provide solutions to the most pressing problems, and then use Deepin more at ease.

The first and most urgent thing to get rid of that error message, that the update failed in the Control Center, is to do the procedure of the article «FIX DEEPIN 20 1001 UPDATE ERROR», It worked for the previous version and it also works for 1002.

Another deficiency that we noticed is that Deepin 20 is still without mirror repositories, that is, it installs and updates everything from China. This often causes installations to be slow. We have kept the mirror repository of Deepin 20 beta of Deepin in Spanish updated, which continues to work perfectly in the final version. To change the mirror repository, follow the instructions in «IMPROVE DEEPIN 20 BETA REPOSITORY SPEED».

Another thing that I did not like at all, the translations are still not up to date, despite the fact that the Deepin translations team in Spanish has kept everything up to date. If you want to have the system with a more complete and corrected translation, follow the article procedure «SPANISH LANGUAGE PATCH FOR DEEPIN 20».

If your computer has an Intel processor, the microcode It is already installed, but if you want to make sure it is installed, run the following command.

sudo apt install intel-microcode

In case your processor is AMD, we have observed that it is not pre-installed. Install it with the command below.

sudo apt install amd64-microcode

If you are wondering what the microcode is, simply put, they are the "drivers" of the processor, they have patches that improve the performance and safety of the processor.

If your computer is portable and you want to improve energy efficiency, install the energy saving modules with the following command.

sudo apt install tlp

Then restart the computer for the changes to take effect, you don't need to do it right away, you can do it later.

If you have an Nvidia video card, your computer is a desktop computer and you did not install the proprietary Nvidia drivers during the Deepin installation, you can do it with the following command.

sudo apt install nvidia-driver

If you have an Nvidia video card and your computer is portable, you can use the procedure you gave us maxandres90 in the forum, «INvidia + Intel Hybrid Video Card Driver Installation»

If you want to install the Nvidia control panel (Nvidia X Server Settings), you can install it with the following command.

sudo apt install nvidia-settings

Another option that I have not tried from Nvidia for laptops but that you can try is to install the Bumblebee driver, if you want to experiment, you can install it with the following command.

sudo apt install bumblebee-nvidia

Please tell us in the comments if the Bumblebee driver worked for you or not.

Finally restart to apply all the changes.

We also noticed that Deepin's application store still continues in Chinese ... Unfortunately in this case we do not have a solution, the content of the store is a webapp And like the website, the control of the content is on the Wuhan Deepin Technology servers.

We hope that this guide of what to do after installing Deepin 20 will help you start using it in the middle of a somewhat "hectic" launch, that you enjoy it.

Thank you very much for this article, it helped me because I was lost, I do not have much knowledge, the truth is I am very new to linux and testing deepin on my notebook because I did not take the 8723d wifi driver and I managed to find a post in your community and I fell in love. I have a question I hope I am not obvious. The screen of my laptop is something bright for my eyes and I do not know if there are drivers to lower the brightness I try to find something that does it but I can not find a way, although it does not hurt me as if it were that I am installing for the first time a I use operating system for many hours and if it causes me a little damage. Is there a solution to that? hp250 g6.
A detail that I do not know if it is normal. When I connected another screen to my laptop I managed to lower the brightness to the maximum (practically dark. The monitor) but the screen of my laptop did not go down to that point (using it in extended).
Thank you very much for this community and I hope someone can answer me even if it is by giving me information to look for. Thank you!

If I try but I don't know if I became sensitive that when I go to windows I can lower the brightness much more than I have it in deepin. Is there a way to lower it even more than 10%?

Do you recommend using WPS? Since in the previous guide it came how to translate it and although I understand that it is a quick guide, I feel that there is no better complement, regarding updating the kernel to 5.8, do you recommend it? Thank you, greetings!

The tutorial is excellent, especially for those inexperienced on the subject like me, but the contribution that is made to the community with these tutorials is undoubtedly appreciated.

I have a question regarding executing the amd microcode command and I skip a list of missing firmwares, not if that should be the result or something has failed in the process, I hope you can help me with that question, greetings.

Thank you very much for the information, it was very useful to me!
But I would like to know if you have any advice to install spotify-client?
I followed the steps that are on the official spotify page and apparently it installed it, but the icon does not appear in the start menu.

Thanks, I found the solution when I entered the command you showed me.
It showed me a message:

xdg-desktop-menu: No writable system menu directory found.

Apparently it is solved by creating a directory:

sudo mkdir / usr / share / desktop-directories /

Then I re-entered the command and it worked.
