HYBRID VIDEO CARD DRIVERS INSTALLATION

In this tutorial I will show you how to specifically install NVIDIA + Intel video cards, particularly in laptops. This can be difficult for many to achieve so the goal of this article is to make it a little easier. Remember to follow all the instructions below to the letter.

CONSIDERATIONS
  • I have carried out the tests on my laptop: ASUS ROG GL72 VW, Processor Intel i7-6700HQ HD Graphics 530 with hybrid video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
  • The guide is focused on being done once you havealready installed Deepin 20 version 1001 or higher (You can choose the Deepin installation procedure that best suits you either manual or automatic, in both cases this guide was tested)
  • Requires internet connection
  • This solution stillit does not allowusage settingsNVIDIA on demand(On Demand). What it allows us to do is use the main graphics card, Intel + NVIDIA.
  • They must have corrected the repository update error Printer (Fix update error)
PROCESS
  • 1. To begin we must download the file «script.tar.gz»From the link below. Remember that you must be registered to access the download.

Then we locate the file that we just downloaded, open a terminal and unzip it using the following command:

tar -xzvf script.tar.gz

As a result then we will have the filesIntel.shandNVIDIA.sh.

  • 2. We proceed to select Intel as the graphics card, executing the command below in the terminal. (Remember that we must locate ourselves in the directory where the files are locatedIntel.shandNVIDIA.sh)
sudo ./Intel.sh

This command will close the user session, at this point if you are presented with the login screen, enter your credentials and continue the procedure, otherwise if you leave them on a black screen, we must access a terminalCtr + Alt + F2and to save work we restart the equipment with the commandreboot.

  • 3. We clean the system of the existence of NVIDIA package installations using the following command:
sudo apt autoremove nvidia-*
  • 4. We deactivate the driver nouveau, for this we create from a terminal the file blacklist.conf by running the following command in the terminal:
sudo deepin-editor /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

The above will open the Deepin text editor, inside this file we paste the following instructions:

blacklist nouveau
blacklist lbm-nouveau
options nouveau modeset=0
alias nouveau off
alias lbm-nouveau off
  • 5. Then we move on to updating the initramfs "initial ram file system»By executing the following command:
sudo update-initramfs -u

We restart the equipment, graphically or through the terminal with:

reboot
  • 6. We install the NVIDIA driver using the following command:
sudo apt update -y && sudo apt install nvidia-driver nvidia-smi nvidia-settings plymouth-themes console-setup -y
  • 7. We proceed to select the NVIDIA as the graphics card, executing the command below in the terminal (Remember that we must locate ourselves in the directory where the files are locatedIntel.shandNVIDIA.sh)
sudo ./NVIDIA.sh
IMPORTANT

At this point the previous command will close the user's session, as when switching to Intel, at this point if you are presented with the login screen, enter your credentials and continue the procedure, in case of leaving them on screen black, we must access a terminalCtr + Alt + F2and we restart the equipment with the commandreboot..

This is it when it comes to installing NVIDIA + Intel cards. We hope it has been helpful to you and as always, if you have any doubts or questions regarding the article, or if you have suggestions or detect an error, do not hesitate to let us know through a comment. We are always happy to receive feedback from all of you.

Excellent contribution… I just finished the installation process on a DELL G3-3579 with GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile / Intel UHD Graphics 630 (Mobile) graphics without any error. I will be testing it these days and will report any bugs. Thank you.

Frenedy Arzuro Did you install both drivers or just one of the 2? How to know what driver and what device (intel or nvidia) I am using?

dnlag These are not two controllers, but two bash files that run a series of commands per console to help with installation. Simply follow each one of them step by step and voila. As I understand it, with this post, the use of NVIDIA as the main graphics card is enabled. Greetings.

Luis Sosa It is serious to minha duvida too, you can install or Deepin 20 (1001) and logo após to inalação, give an error when going to enter no login, as I thought I wanted it was because you have selected "install the drivers nividia" tentei install again more dessa Once we see drivers appear the same error again, I only get to install or Deepin 20 beta and that I also do not give to download anything and much less to update the error of dependence nenhum tutorial no youtube works it must be expired as time

Luis Sosa To install the Nvidia driver on desktop computers just run the command

sudo apt install nvidia-driver

And restart the computer ...

A three line tutorial is not enough for an article hehe.

Thank you very much for sharing such a well detailed tutorial, unfortunately in my case it has not worked for me, I have an Asus K53SC Notebook with Intel 3000HD and Nvidia Geforce GT 520MX graphics so the driver that installs the system with your turorial (Nvidia 440) is incompatible with my model, which is as I could find out the Nvidia-Legacy-390xx.driver. I made multiple adaptations to your instructions and I managed to install the driver but I can't get the X server to load it, I even extracted a Linux Mint xorg.conf file where I managed to install the drivers without any problem and copied it to / etc / X11 / xorg .conf but I only managed not to enter the graphical session despite the multiple edits that I made to that configuration file.
I comment on my situation with the hope that you can guide me on what I am doing wrong.

When I install Deepin v20, in the installation screen it gives me the option to install the proprietary Nvidia drivers, Technically I am already using the hybrid drivers ?.

Himaxandres90,
I can't download the file script.tar.gz, even though I'm logged in. When I visit the link https://xn--deepinenespaol-1nb.org/instalacion-de-drivers-de-tardamientos-de-video-hibridas/ is always says that im not logged in, on all other pages it says that im logged in.
Can you please share the file here?

Martin Ilievski

Hi,

For security reasons we do not allow that, please try cleaning up your browser's cache or try with a different browser, I just downloaded the script with no problem at all.

Thanks.

If we configure the Debian backports repository:

# buster-backports
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian buster-backports main contrib non-free

And we install the driver from there:

apt install -t buster-backports nvidia-driver

we can have version 450.66
