Most of this article is a translation of the official announcement posted at deepin.org.

This is a beta version intended for preliminary testing prior to the release of the final version, and does not reflect the quality and / or stability of the final product so you will encounter some flaws or errors.

We have already noticed that several of the translations are incomplete, or that corrections that have already been sent by the translation team have not been applied in this beta version, we hope to see them reflected in the final version.

Our Deepines repository does not work correctly in this beta, please do not use it in this version, for the release of the final version of Deepin 20 we will release Deepines 4.0 with full support for V20 and higher.

Because smart mirror repositories are under construction, there will be no smart mirror switch in this beta, and it will be available when construction is complete. Comments in the Deepin 20 beta app store are temporarily out of sync, so users cannot see the above comments, which will be available when sync is complete.

I already installed it and am using it right now.
The Store apps are still in Chinese but there are many more, if not all, unlike the RC that only brought few.
(This can be solved by downloading Deb packages from the Deepin repositories: http://mirror.cedia.org.ec/deepin/pool/non-free/ )

Root permissions have been fixed, they can now be used without registering.

And well, those are the most important aspects that I take into account xd.

Hello, a clarification. Deepin and UOS are sister systems, but they are not the same. What you refer to as RC is UOS 20 RC and is not Deepin.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the community, regards.

Good, because I have installed it and I am testing it, basically what I wanted to check was if the system was able to turn off and if the trackpad worked, and if, in previous versions these options did not work for me, the most annoying thing was having to turn off the laptop leaving the button pressed, which made it unusable for me.

I tell you about the problems I am encountering:
- If I log out, it fails and crashes.
- If I do not activate automatic and passwordless login, the computer takes a long time to start and the login music plays long before starting.
- The store is, but it marks all the applications as «Unavailable.
- I cannot install anything from terminal.
- I cannot install -inst applications like eclipse for example.

I know it's a beta, I'm not complaining, it's just for you to keep in mind if you are thinking of installing it.

The control panel has been changed, it is no longer the characteristic of deepin and I did not like that.

If someone knows how to solve any of the problems that I have indicated, I would greatly appreciate it.

At the end of not being able to install by terminal was a sporadic failure, I have managed to install the snap store for example and it is functional, so yes, it can be installed from terminal and from snap.

Sure, we will look forward to the stable version. For now, testing in Virtual Box… Something I want to comment on is that it asks for 128 gb to work correctly. A little pretentious isn't it? in short, we will see if it is worth it.

Good to everyone, this is my first post, but good is just to tell you that I installed it in my Lenovo in which I had deepin 15.11 and had problems with the graphics, I could not control the brightness or suspend the machine since it did not return and some problems With the audio, but with this version everything is fine, I have managed to install most of the programs that I use such as freecad, kicad, teams, code, among others, and well, the final version must be really crazy

I installed it, and the truth is that the windows are very nice, I like the theme more in this version. Now the settings menu is an application, and not a side panel, that also seems better to me. What I could not modify was the screen scaling, which makes the windows, and especially the dock, look disproportionately large, and it cannot be resized from the dock's own menu either. Tell me dated, but for now I'm sticking with deepin 15.11.

Hello, the minimum scaling is 100%, and it seems to me that they calibrated the sizes for screens with large resolutions, so that in lower resolution screens the elements are a bit large. You can also decrease the font size in Control Center → Personalization → Font.

The size of the dock is now adjusted by dragging the top edge of the dock.

Yes, thank you very much. By telegram you told me how to do it, the truth had not fixed me about the dock. Regarding scaling, I "solved" it by changing the font size as you told me, I hope they correct that later. By telegram someone also configured it via terminal, but I don't know how to do it.

I am already testing the beta version, it works well with various effects and compatibility of other applications such as gelatinous windows or the magic lamp in the minimization effect, but I could not find how to create virtual desktops which means that it will not come integrated in This version and there are also problems in the part of the round windows when the appearance is changed in the windows with gtk themes, so it hardly gives any option to customize but you want it to present a problem with the design of the rounded windows while both everything Others have worked well.

Hello, we have done some tests, and it seems that the cause of that problem is to create the Deepin installer on the same USB key that was used to create the UOS installer, without formatting the USB key between one creation and another.

My recommendation is to use Deepin Boot Maker with the option to format the activated drive when creating the USB installer.

If you use another program to create the USB installer, format the USB key before creating the Deepin 20 beta installer.

Greetings.

I did search myself as well but could not find it 🙂 Just wondering when is Arch Linux going to provide these packages.

Regarding installation I see many people complain about failure so to tell them I never use Deepin native installer, I rather boot into live session by setting language to English at GRUB and once on desktop of Deepin I always use Refractainstaller and it works perfectly. So I would suggest to try it.

Hello everyone, I checked by installing the system directly on my pc, where it was evident that this new version of Deepin is optimized in detail ... both in animations and functionality issues, although I also notice certain flaws which are corrected in the mature of the distro in its latest version.

List of flaws:

* Try to innovate in system startup / shutdown animation.

* In the center of the control some section would be missing to be able to modify the notifications, with the ease of making programmed activations in the way do not disturb or add widgets and others.

* The system sound package is the same as its past versions

* deepin style icon update for most apps

* The deepin launcher presents different view modes than the launcher preview that was presented at the time

* Lack of the famous Deepin defender

* repeated or poorly performed translations

* The compatibility of the dark mode with certain applications is not integrated properly, for example WPS changes the font, leaving it white but not its skin .. leaving white on white without being able to use it comfortably.

* Access to "AI assist", although I don't know if it will only be for "UOS RC"

* Own browser of the distro

I hope that these announced functions as well as applications can be viewed in the official version, I also thank this community as it keeps us up to date with any news.

Well, I'm still messing around, the truth is that it is much better now, after installing the nvdia drivers, since before I couldn't log out and it took a long time to start, it was all because of this, but I found a "fault" that I'd like to share as a curiosity, I guess they fixed it in the final version (I hope).
When I put the equipment to work on battery I have as a result a low level of use of the cpu, totally at rest, but if I put the pointer over the battery icon to display the percentage and the estimated time of the duration, the consumption of cpu is shot well above what would seem normal ...
It's the dde-dock command that fires, and it puts the fans to work even, not good for the battery. I have done tests and it happens to me by putting the pointer over any icon in the bottom bar, without clicking or anything, even if it is just a shortcut, from chrome, the store, etc.

Hello beautiful people, good news! Come on deepin, I wanted to consult you about the new partitions. I have a habit of manually creating the partitioning
For example:
2GB boot
4GB swapp
40GB /
what's left in the / home

You guys say, I let deepin partition alone? Or even if I manually partition it, will it also create that special 10GB partition?

Mauro AdmMauro Adm

Hello, if you do manual partitioning, Deepin will respect it. So far I have always recommended doing manual partitioning, but the Deepin 20 partitioner has made a leap in quality, enough to recommend the use of Deepin automatic partitioning.

In addition to using space in a very reasonable and thoughtful way, it creates a very useful and convenient factory reset partition, restore and restore point partition structure for a system that is only activated by automatic partitioning. The factory reset and backup system is not yet complete in Deepin 20 beta, but it is fully functional and what it lacks is mostly aesthetic details.

So I recommend using automatic partitioning if possible, which in turn will erase all content from the assigned hard drive.

As for the size of the SWAP, it will be the size necessary to activate hibernation, that is, a little larger than RAM. If it bothers you a lot then it can be resized.

Greetings.

Hello, if it can be done, but I do not recommend it, the changes from Deepin 15 to Deepin 20 are very large.

Some users have reported that they have updated it from Deepin 15 to Deepin 20 by changing the repositories, but they are advanced and experienced users who know how to do it without assistance, also know how to solve any inconveniences or problems generated by updating instead of doing an installation in cleansed.

If you have to ask how it is done, it means that you do not have the necessary experience to solve the possible problems caused by an update of this type, so I do not recommend that you do so.

The easiest way to guarantee a smooth installation is to do a clean installation, if you have any problems it may be easier and faster to do a clean installation than to solve all the problems.

It is not yet known if with the publication of the final version of Deepin 20, Deepin 15 will offer a window to update, but I doubt it, Deepin 20 has a new system of backups and restoration to factory values that require a new scheme partitioning.
