Deepin Migrates your DEBIAN STABLE BASE A

The news was expected by the community and we can finally announce the migration of deepin to the stable branch of Debian.

The migration to the stable repository is intended to improve the underlying stability and security. The software in the stable branch of Debian has been strictly tested and is relatively stable.

Also from now on, we will be supporting the Debian security team to maintain updates and security patches in a timely manner. Guaranteeing a zero amount of vulnerabilities to PCs.

When it comes to Debian updates, the deepin development team will optimize and maintain them with agility, with the aim of incorporating these into the system and the App Store, within a week.

Expected improvements with this migration

  • More effective response to software security vulnerabilities.
  • Stability and performance improvements with every system update
  • Better support (compatibility) for third-party applications. Via Deepin Store.
  • Better support for our business customers.
  • Some programs will be updated in parallel with the stable Debian repository. Versions, somewhat outdated by then, such as Chrome, Firefox, Libreoffice and other applications will be updated, to ensure better usability.

Publisher Feedback

Since deepin 15.9.2 Beta (test version) is the first edition after migrating to the stable Debian repository, your comments and suggestions are very necessary to help us improve. Please visit the feedback Post.

A known example would be wine-hq or any other external package that looked for dependencies, specific to some of the official branches.

We also believe that our deepines repository will play an even more transcendental role, supporting with modern and compatible versions the package of the official repository and of course we are willing to redouble our effort "For a deepin every day better."

In short, Deepin is more secure and works with fewer glitches than before.

In the article itself it says it although with a bit technical language, but in other words, it takes advantage of the work already done by the Debian team instead of re-inventing warm water, it takes advantage of the Debian security fixes that are they publish quite fast, that the applications are well tested so they do not fail or fail very very little.

An analogy is that the stable branch offers "products" already finished and tested, while the unstable branch offers "products" in development and experimental, "as prototypes", with the consequent uncertainty as to whether they will work well or not.

Hey, Wilson!

What Car tells us is that the changes undertaken will result in a more agile and efficient OS as well as representing a better basis for the applications we use.

These are the broad benefits.

Greetings

What good news, Car!

Every day that passes I love Deepin more. It's exciting to see all the effort and work put into each new system update. I always look forward to new editions.

A hug.

Does this mean that version 15.9.2 is not the same as the current 15.9.2 BETA?

Thank you!

Excellent news and really highly anticipated, this is one of the first steps for Deepin OS to be one of the most stable and widely used environments in the world
