Here we will see some features about the long-awaited Deepin Files 1.7 and its improvements in that version. We have waited for the launch of this for several months and although we already knew about some of the improvements, there are some details to note that may have escaped some and that can be very useful.
Dark theme
One of the most requested features when Deepin customization was the dark theme. To set the dark theme to Deepin file, we just have to click on the upper right part of a window as shown here and select "Dark Theme":
So we can establish the dark theme of Deepin file.
Viewing Files & Documents
One of the most unknown features by Deepin users is the viewing of files. To view a file you just have to click on the file, then press the Space key (Space). The files that can be viewed are the following:
Pictures and images:
Viewing a photo.
documents:
You can view documents such as: PDF, Text files, etc. It is not yet compatible with Word, WPS or Libreoffice documents.
Music:
You can listen to your music through the file manager Deepin file
Videos:
We can even see video through Deepin file.
Compressed files:
Deepin file tabs
Deepin files gives the option to open multiple tabs in the same manager. To do so, you must right click and choose the option: «Open in a new tab». This will give us access to open more tabs at the top.
formatting USB
To format a USB memory is very simple, unlike Nautilus, Deepin file comes with this integrated function, from some previous versions. To be able we just have to be right click on the memory. Example:
We can change or establish a name to the USB memory and the type of format.
Formatting process.
Mount Disc Automatically or prevent them from mounting
To make this option we go to Settings:
We are looking to Mount, there will be the option to mount or dismount automatically:
Show hidden files
To show or hide hidden files in Deepin file, we just have to press: CTRL + H
Another way to show hidden files is by going to settings, Windows and tabs. There you will find the option to show hidden files.
Tags Deepin
This option is new in Deepin file, with them we can group data, either by colors or by a name that we assign them. You can have all your files at your fingertips quickly and easily. Example:
Grouping, Orange
Here you can see the grouping by that color.
We can also group files by name and color. Example:
Grouped by name Photos and color Yellow
These are some of the best features of Deepin File 1.7 highlighted. I hope you find one that is your favorite, feel free to tell us which one it is through a comment, we would love to know your opinion about it, what is still missing in Deepin files and what would you like to see in its next version?
Being able to access remotely with fish or sftp protocols would be nice. The preview of each file in another side panel (which can be deactivated if you don't like it) without having to double click on each one of them would also be great.
Thanks Ricardo, we are going to suggest to the Deepin Testing development team, to see if there is the possibility of implementing these features that you mention in future versions.
hi, i have a problem after upgrading to 1.7 "deepin files closes"
It turns out that when I click on subfolders of a disk or the home folders, music, downloads, etc., the deepin files closes without further ado.
what could be the problem, is there any way to reset or reinstall it?
please help
Open synaptic remove dde-file-manager and reinstall it
I really like the new Deepin File Manager 1.7. It is one of the best file managers in any distro. One feature I would like to see is a common view for all folders. Dolphin has this feature.
I prefer my folders to sort all my files by type. Adding this function along with the other suggestions would put Deepin File Manager right there with Dolphin. In a way, it is already as good. It just needs a few tweaks to push it over the top.
I just downloaded Deepin 15.5 Beta and I'm looking forward to trying it. A few reviews have me concerned, but it is beta. I won't pass judgment just yet.
Deepin 15.5 was closing in on near perfection. I would hate for the momentum to be lost by aimless development.
Don't change things just because you can. As long as the developers remember - If it ain't broke, don't fix it - Deepin will continue to lead the pack in innovation.
Hi there
michael biller, welcome to the community, it's a great to have you around. I also love Deepin Files and like you I would love to see features such as “Common View” but I think it'll take some time before we see advanced features such as these make it into the OS, but it will get there though, I'm sure.
I think you meant 15.6? Yeah it's still a little rough around the edges but I think it'll turn out to be a great release.
