The version Firefox 75 comes with a renewed address bar (screenshot above), giving a clean and optimized search experience for small laptop screens, with the best sites that appear when you select an address. Suggestion readability has also been improved, focusing on new search terms.

Also, clicking on the address bar and the search bar, the behavior is now the same on Linux, macOS and Windows desktops: single click selects all without primary selection, double click selects a word and triple click selects all with primary selection (previously this worked differently on Linux) .

Now that we know about some of its new features, let's move on to the great news for Linux users!

Firefox installed using flatpak package

This is the first stable version of Firefox that Flatpak supports, the framework for distributing sandboxed desktop applications on Linux. Thanks to this, Firefox is now available on Flathub, an application repository with Flatpak technology. This means that the latest version of Firefox can now be easily installed on numerous Linux distributions.

Another important news for Linux users is that Firefox 75 in Wayland now has full WebGL support (some info bits and links from Phoronix), as well as H.264 VA-API decoding (with FFmpeg technology). Mozilla has also finished implementing VP9 VA-API hardware decoding using FFmpeg for Firefox in Wayland, but this did not reach Firefox 75. However, the good news is that it will be available with the next version of Firefox 76.

Flatpak and Firefox 75 installation

1. From your terminal put the following commands to generate the installation

sudo apt update && sudo apt install Flatpak

and then:

Flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub

2. Once installed, restart your machine to continue with the installation.

3- Finally download and install Firefox clicking on it using the following download link

Ready your new way to install Firefox You will be ready with these simple steps.

I like that Firefox is now available to install with flatpak, it would not be my main option to install Firefox, but eventually I know it will save me from some problem.

Rafael true, but remember that we can also get the latest version of Firefox from Deepines . Although of course the Flatpak option as well as the Snap, they are good options for those who do not yet know our complementary repo.

Good morning, install firefox flatpak and I really like it I am using it as the main browser. Configure websites as indicated by this link but the shortcut does not appear on the deepin desktop and the title bar is big enough someone would know to tell me how to remove the bar and configure the system so that the shortcuts appear.
